Transforming Education in Fiji: A Call to Action for Head Teachers

The Fiji Head Teachers Association has been urged to develop practical solutions aimed at enhancing education and supporting children in Fiji. Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro made these statements during the opening of the 41st Fiji Head Teachers Association Conference at the Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort in Denarau.

Radrodro emphasized the importance of creating an environment that nurtures inspiration and innovative thinking in children, fostering their growth into solution-oriented leaders of the future. He highlighted the responsibility of educators to bridge traditional teaching methods with innovative practices and encouraged them to empower students to become independent thinkers.

Additionally, he stressed that teamwork is vital for social unity, but it is essential first to shape children’s character, instilling a sense of purpose, vision, and direction.

School heads were encouraged to extend their roles beyond classroom instruction, advocating for engagement with students and their families to provide support. Radrodro described the importance of transformative leadership in education, stating that the government has invested in them as leaders of their schools. He called for the creation of an educational environment where all students can succeed, teachers can thrive, and communities can prosper.
