The Fiji Head Teachers Association has been urged to implement practical measures aimed at aiding children and improving the education system in Fiji. During the opening of the 41st Fiji Head Teachers Association Conference at the Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort in Denarau, Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro made these remarks.
Radrodro emphasized the importance of creating an environment that inspires and fosters innovative thinking in children, urging educators to cultivate the leaders of tomorrow with solution-oriented mindsets. He stated, “You are tasked to bridge the gap between tradition and innovation, and I encourage you all to think about the need to empower your students to be independent thinkers.”
Highlighting the significance of teamwork for social cohesion, he noted that it is essential to shape children’s characters to possess a sense of purpose, vision, and direction. The Heads of Schools (HOS) were encouraged to extend their roles beyond classroom instruction, advocating for active involvement in assisting students and engaging with their parents.
“Be a transformative leader. The government has invested in you to be leaders of your respective schools, and we should strive to create an educational landscape where every student can thrive, every teacher can excel, and every community can flourish,” Radrodro concluded.
