Transforming Education: A Call to Action for Fiji’s Head Teachers

The Fiji Head Teachers Association has been urged to implement practical measures aimed at enhancing children’s education and overall development in Fiji.

Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro expressed these sentiments during the opening of the 41st Fiji Head Teachers Association Conference at the Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort in Denarau.

Mr. Radrodro emphasized the importance of creating an environment that inspires children and fosters innovative thinking, encouraging them to become solution-oriented leaders for the future.

He stated, “You are tasked to bridge the gap between tradition and innovation, and I encourage you all to think about the need to empower your students to be independent thinkers.”

Additionally, he highlighted the significance of teamwork for social cohesion, stating that to achieve this, it is essential to shape children’s characters to have a sense of purpose, vision, and direction.

The Heads of Schools (HOS) were encouraged to expand their roles beyond the classroom, to engage with families and monitor the progress of children.

“Be a transformative leader. The government has invested in you to lead your respective schools, and we must create an educational landscape where every student can thrive, every teacher can excel, and every community can flourish,” Mr. Radrodro concluded.
