Transforming Education: A Call to Action for Fiji’s Head Teachers

The Fiji Head Teachers Association has been urged to develop effective strategies aimed at enhancing education and supporting children across Fiji. Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro delivered this message during the inauguration of the 41st Fiji Head Teachers Association Conference held at the Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort in Denarau.

Mr. Radrodro emphasized the necessity of creating an environment that inspires children’s minds and fosters innovative thinking, encouraging them to become solution-oriented leaders for the future. He stated, “Your role is to bridge the divide between tradition and innovation, and I urge you to focus on empowering your students to think independently.”

He highlighted the importance of teamwork for social cohesion, noting that to achieve this, it is essential to cultivate children’s characters to instill a sense of purpose, vision, and direction.

School heads were encouraged to extend their influence beyond the classroom and school setting, to actively engage with children and their families. “Embrace the role of a transformative leader. The government has invested in your capability to lead your schools, and together we can create an educational environment where every student can prosper, every teacher can shine, and every community can thrive,” Mr. Radrodro stated.
