“Transforming Birth: Discover Fiji’s Unique All-Female Birthing Experience”

Pacific Specialist Healthcare’s birthing facility in Nadi is celebrating a remarkable success rate among its patients. The hospital encourages expecting parents to explore reviews and testimonials shared on social media platforms like Facebook and TikTok, showcasing the joy and appreciation expressed by new mothers and fathers regarding their experiences.

The PSH Obstetrics and Gynaecology facility is led by Dr. Tui Taoi, Fiji’s top obstetrician and gynaecologist. The birthing team consists exclusively of female nurses and nursing assistants, ensuring the utmost privacy for expectant mothers. This all-female staff model has received positive feedback from many mothers and support from fathers, according to PSH’s director and CEO, Parvish Kumar.

Kumar noted, “These mothers thank us for creating this environment. After giving birth, they enjoy private rooms equipped with a television, lounge suite, and facilities for making beverages. We’ve designed these rooms to feel like five-star hotel accommodations.” The facility also welcomes fathers to stay with their partners, encouraging a supportive environment.

Kumar expressed satisfaction with the decision to operate their Nadi branch 24 hours, which has been in effect for two weeks, due to a growing number of patients arriving at night. Recently, several patients from the airport sought urgent medical assistance for various conditions including asthma, food poisoning, fever, and abdominal pains.

The hospital’s affordable consultation fee of $11.50 has significantly aided public access to healthcare. PSH is exploring options to make services free of charge, having approached foreign companies for potential collaboration to achieve this goal.

Kumar emphasized that PSH Hospitals aims to enhance health services and advocate for universal health coverage, striving to provide solutions to societal challenges regarding healthcare access. “There are numerous patients who we have assisted with free services. Private hospitals are intended to alleviate pressure from the public system by offering advanced and quicker treatment options. At PSH Hospitals, we take it a step further to make our services more affordable, even free for those in most need,” he explained.

“PSH Hospitals represents a different kind of healthcare facility; come talk to us, and you will experience our commitment to empathy,” he stated. Patients accessing general practitioners are charged a nominal fee of $11.50, regardless of whether it’s during normal operating hours or in emergencies at any time of day.

Kumar added that PSH offers competitive rates for medical procedures along with diverse options for patients, including those who cannot afford the entire fee upfront. “We also provide installment plans for major procedures under certain conditions,” he said, while noting the importance of patients adhering to their financial plans.
