The Australian Pacific Training Coalition (APTC) is providing promising educational opportunities for youth in Fiji, focusing on workforce skills and improving livelihoods.
On Wednesday, a total of 317 students, comprising 181 females and 137 males, attended a certification event held in Nasinu.
Jokapeci Mocelutu, a 26-year-old from Suvavou, expressed that the training she received will greatly enhance her work prospects. Currently enrolled in a caregiving certification program, she noted that the course duration is just 12 weeks. “This training is invaluable, and it’s free, allowing us to gain skills for better employment,” she stated.
Jokapeci is focused on pursuing a career in aged care and aims to work either locally or internationally, especially given the current economic challenges. Her single motherhood presents additional difficulties, but she remains determined to extend her education further once this course is complete.
Sainimere Lewetini, also 26, shared her enthusiasm about obtaining her Certificate II in Hospitality. Coming from Naweretu in Ra, she highlighted the program’s positive impact on her understanding and skills, which she anticipates applying in Lautoka.
The course spans 12 weeks, with a three-week practical component at local hotels. Sainimere expressed gratitude to God for the training and the opportunities it presents, emphasizing the importance of education for navigating life’s challenges.
Both women encourage others to take advantage of these free training opportunities to improve their lives and careers.
