Superintendent of Police Ruci Nasemira was honored with the Pacific Award at the 2024 Australasian Council of Women and Policing (ACWAP) Awards, which took place in Brisbane, Australia.

Currently serving as the Acting Deputy Divisional Police Commander for the South, one of the busiest operational divisions in the country, SP Nasemira has made significant contributions throughout her extensive career in policing, which spans over 30 years.

The 25th ACWAP Excellence in Policing Awards, held at Brisbane City Hall, recognized the achievements of individuals who are dedicated to improving policing and law enforcement, particularly in enhancing services for women in communities.

SP Nasemira’s impactful career has inspired both women and men in the field. She was selected to participate in the Comprehensive Security Cooperation Course at the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies in Hawaii.

During her two-year assignment with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan in 2022, she served as Chief of Training and Sensitization under the Community Policing Pillar, focusing on training programs provided to ten states within the country. She was also re-accredited as a UN Selection Assistant and Assessment Team Instructor during this time.

In 2019, she held the position of Deputy Chair for the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police Women’s Advisory Network, contributing to efforts aimed at increasing the involvement of women in policing across the Pacific region. Additionally, she was appointed the Fiji Netball Manager in 2018 and became one of the first female Drill Instructors in the Fiji Police. Before her current role, she served as the Divisional Manager of Community Policing for the South.
