Trailblazing Appointment at DPP: Meet Nancy Tikoisuva

Nancy Tikoisuva has been appointed as the Acting Director for Public Prosecutions (DPP). She received her formal appointment notification letter from President Ratu Willame Katonivere yesterday.

Ms. Tikoisuva remarked that she received the letter around 3:30 PM, following the departure of John Rabuku from the office on Wednesday.

“My appointment comes at a time when there have been significant changes in the leadership of the office,” she said. “Our focus is to maintain the momentum on what has been decided in terms of strategic directions. I am thankful that the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) deemed it appropriate to make the appointment from within, and I have a team that has provided their support.”

Ms. Tikoisuva is well-acquainted with leadership roles, having previously served as the acting assistant director for DPP during Mr. Rabuku’s tenure.

A prominent lawyer, Ms. Tikoisuva has worked with the Toganivalu Legal law firm and served as an External Academic with the University of the South Pacific (USP). She has also worked as a consultant with the Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO).

With over 18 years of experience, she graduated from USP in 2003 and earned her Masters in Law in 2022.

“I am the second local female, the third female in the history of the DPP’s office, and the first iTaukei female to be in this role,” she stated.

Her message to her female colleagues: “Don’t give up, don’t be discouraged by bureaucracy, let your work speak for itself.”
