Superintendent of Police (SP) Ruci Nasemira received the prestigious Pacific Award at the 2024 Australasian Council of Women and Policing (ACWAP) Awards ceremony held in Brisbane, Australia. Currently serving as the Acting Deputy Divisional Police Commander South (DDPC/S), she oversees one of the most demanding operational divisions in the country.
The 25th ACWAP Excellence in Policing Awards took place at Brisbane City Hall, honoring both men and women who are making significant contributions to enhance policing and law enforcement services, particularly focusing on improving these services for women in communities.
SP Nasemira has built an inspiring career in policing, spanning over three decades, and boasts an impressive record of achievements. She was chosen to participate in a six-week Comprehensive Security Cooperation Course 22-3 at the renowned Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies in Hawaii.
During her two-year assignment with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) in 2022, she served as the Chief of Training and Sensitization under the Community Policing Pillar. In this role, she oversaw UNMISS-affiliated training programs across ten states in South Sudan and was re-accredited as a UN Selection Assistant and Assessment Team Instructor.
In 2019, she served as the Deputy Chair of the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police Women’s Advisory Network, aiding efforts to elevate the role of women in policing throughout the Pacific region. In 2018, she also took on the role of Fiji Netball Manager and became one of the first female Drill Instructors for the Fiji Police Force.
Before taking on her current position as Acting DDPC South, she was the Divisional Manager for Community Policing South (DMCP/S).
