Superintendent of Police (SP) Ruci Nasemira was honored with the Pacific Award during the 2024 Australasian Council of Women and Policing (ACWAP) Awards ceremony in Brisbane, Australia. Currently serving as the Acting Deputy Divisional Police Commander South (DDPC/S), which is a highly active operational division, SP Nasemira’s recognition highlights her significant contributions to the field.

The 25th ACWAP Excellence in Policing Awards took place at the Brisbane City Hall on Thursday, celebrating the efforts of individuals who enhance policing and law enforcement while improving services for women in communities.

With over 30 years of dedicated service, SP Nasemira’s career has been a beacon of inspiration for both men and women in the police force. She was chosen to participate in the six-week Comprehensive Security Cooperation Course (CSC 22-3) at the renowned Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies in Hawaii.

Furthermore, she was re-accredited as a UN Selection Assistant and Assessment Team Instructor.

In 2019, SP Nasemira took on the role of Deputy Chair of the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police Women’s Advisory Network, assisting efforts to elevate the role of women in policing across the Pacific region. She also managed the Fiji Netball team in 2018 and became one of the first female Drill Instructors in the Fiji Police Force. Before her current position as acting DDPC South, she was the Divisional Manager for Community Policing South.
