A man in his 20s has died from injuries sustained in a fire while working on a yacht in Nadi, according to the Fiji Police Force. The incident occurred on Monday when the victim, who was performing maintenance work on a yacht in Denarau alongside a 24-year-old colleague, experienced an explosion in the engine compartment, resulting in burns for both men.
They were immediately taken to Nadi Hospital and later transferred to Lautoka Aspen Hospital, where the victim succumbed to his injuries the following night. The 24-year-old remains hospitalized in critical condition. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
