A 36-year-old woman has been granted bail following charges related to the death of an elderly woman in an accident on Queens Road on August 18, 2024. The woman faces a charge of Dangerous Driving Occasioning Death and appeared in the Lautoka Magistrates Court on the matter.
Reports indicate that she allegedly lost control of her vehicle near the Viseisei Bypass road, causing it to veer off the roadway and collide with a post. The force of the impact caused her vehicle to swing back onto the road, where it struck another car. Tragically, a 75-year-old woman who was a passenger in the vehicle succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident.
The case has been set for adjournment until October 15, 2024.
