The Fiji Police Force is conducting an investigation into a case of alleged negligence following the death of a one-year-old boy in a tragic road accident in Naitonitoni, Navua, on Tuesday.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, the Director of Traffic, reported that the young victim was with a parent and a sibling when he reportedly left home unnoticed and walked onto the road, where he was struck by a vehicle driven by a 23-year-old man.

The driver quickly took the child to Navua Hospital, but unfortunately, the boy was pronounced dead upon arrival.

SSP Divuana noted that the investigation is ongoing, and the possibility of negligence will be considered. He also urged parents and guardians to maintain a high level of vigilance when supervising young children, as accidents can happen in an instant.
