Tragic Loss: Fijian Father Killed in Perth Car Accident

The tragic death of 39-year-old Fijian Sikeli Nawaqa in Perth, Australia, has left his wife and four children in Fiji grieving. Nawaqa was reported to have been driving a vehicle that lost control and crashed into a tree, resulting in his death.

Originally from Nayawa in Nadroga, with family ties to Naceva, Beqa, he was traveling with three other Fijian men at the time of the accident. They suffered injuries and were subsequently airlifted to a hospital in Perth around 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Sulueti Naula, Nawaqa’s devastated wife, expressed her anguish upon receiving the news. She shared that her immediate thoughts were for her children, whom she is now left to care for alone. “A pastor they lived with in Perth went to the hospital that morning for updates,” she recounted. “After about two hours, I got a call from his boss. Just seeing his name, I knew it was about my husband. I was too distraught to answer; I just sat in my room crying.”

Nawaqa had spoken to his wife on Saturday, discussing plans for their 18-year-old son to study abroad. He had relocated to work overseas through the National Employment Centre (NEC) two years ago and had been successfully building his career, recently serving as a supervisor at the Agri Fresh Citrus Farm.

Naula described her husband as a dedicated and loving family man. His father, Inoke Nawaqa, mentioned that the family is currently making arrangements for the funeral.
