A tragic incident occurred yesterday when a 5-year-old boy drowned in Waidra, Baulevu, along the Rewa River. His body was discovered this morning.
Senior Superintendent of Police Joape Cakacaka, the Divisional Police Commander for the Eastern Division, reported that the boy was swimming in the river when the accident took place. He urged all parents to keep a close watch on their children, especially with the cyclone season approaching and school holidays on the horizon.
SSP Cakacaka also expressed gratitude to the Goneturaga na Vunivalu of Kasavu and nearby communities for their assistance in the search efforts for the young boy.
