A 5-year-old boy tragically drowned in Waidra, Baulevu, near the Rewa River yesterday. His body was found this morning. Senior Superintendent of Police Joape Cakacaka, Divisional Police Commander for the Eastern Division, reported that the boy was swimming yesterday afternoon when the incident occurred. He urged parents to closely monitor their children’s activities, especially with the cyclone season approaching and the upcoming school holidays. SSP Cakacaka also expressed gratitude to the Goneturaga na Vunivalu of Kasavu and local communities for their help in the search for the child’s body.
