Tragic Drowning Incident Raises Urgent Safety Concerns for Parents

A 5-year-old boy drowned in Waidra, Baulevu, near the Rewa River yesterday. His body was recovered this morning. Senior Superintendent of Police Joape Cakacaka, the Divisional Police Commander for the Eastern Division, reported that the boy was swimming when the incident occurred. He urged all parents to continuously supervise their children, especially with the cyclone season approaching in a week and the school holidays following soon after. SSP Cakacaka also expressed gratitude to the Goneturaga na Vunivalu of Kasavu and local communities for their assistance in the search for the boy’s body.
