A tragic incident occurred yesterday when a 5-year-old boy drowned in Waidra, Baulevu, along the Rewa River. His body was located this morning. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Joape Cakacaka, the Divisional Police Commander for the Eastern division, reported that the boy had been swimming in the river when the accident took place.
With the cyclone season approaching in just a week and school holidays coming up, SSP Cakacaka urged parents to closely supervise their children. He also expressed gratitude to the Goneturaga na Vunivalu of Kasavu and local communities for their assistance in the search for the boy’s body.
