Police have found the body of a 5-year-old boy who drowned in the Rewa River near Waidra, Baulevu, yesterday. The recovery occurred this morning.
Divisional Police Commander Eastern, Senior Superintendent of Police Joape Cakacaka, reported that the boy was swimming in the afternoon when the incident took place.
Cakacaka urged parents to keep a close watch on their children at all times, especially with the cyclone season approaching and the school holidays coming up soon.
The Fiji Police Force also expressed gratitude to the Goneturaga na Vunivalu of Kasavu and local communities for their support in the search for the young boy’s body.
