Tragic Drowning: Community Calls for Parental Vigilance Amid Cyclone Season

A 5-year-old boy drowned in Waidra, Baulevu near the Rewa River yesterday. His body was retrieved this morning. Senior Superintendent of Police Joape Cakacaka, the Divisional Police Commander Eastern, reported that the boy had gone swimming in the afternoon when the tragedy occurred. He urged parents to closely supervise their children, especially with the cyclone season approaching and the school holidays coming up soon. SSP Cakacaka also expressed gratitude to the Goneturaga na Vunivalu of Kasavu and nearby communities for their support during the search for the boy’s body.
