Police have located the body of a 5-year-old boy who drowned in the Rewa River near Waidra, Baulevu, on Sunday. The recovery was made this morning.
According to Divisional Police Commander Eastern, Senior Superintendent of Police Joape Cakacaka, the boy was swimming yesterday afternoon when the tragic incident occurred.
Cakacaka urged parents to keep a close watch on their children. He noted that the cyclone season is approaching, followed by school holidays, emphasizing the need for vigilance.
Additionally, the Fiji Police Force expressed gratitude to the Goneturaga na Vunivalu of Kasavu and nearby communities for their efforts in searching for the boy’s body.
