A one-year-old child, presumed to have wandered away from home, tragically lost his life after being struck by a vehicle in Naitonitoni, Navua. According to the police, the incident occurred yesterday morning.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, head of Traffic, reported that the child was with a parent and a sibling when he allegedly left home unnoticed and entered the road, where he was hit by a vehicle driven by a 23-year-old man.
The driver immediately transported the child to Navua Hospital, where he was declared dead upon arrival. Ongoing investigations will focus on the incident, including any negligence involved.
SSP Divuana urged parents and caregivers to exercise greater caution in supervising young children, as accidents can happen in an instant.
