A 36-year-old woman accused of causing the death of an elderly woman in a traffic accident on Queens Road on August 18, 2024, has been granted bail. The woman faced charges of Dangerous Driving Occasioning Death and appeared in Lautoka Magistrates Court yesterday.
It is alleged that she lost control of her vehicle near the Viseisei Bypass, causing it to veer off the road and collide with a post. The force of the impact reportedly caused her vehicle to swing back onto the road, where it struck another car. Tragically, a 75-year-old woman who was a passenger in the vehicle died from injuries sustained in the incident.
The court has scheduled the next hearing for October 15, 2024.
