A one-year-old child lost his life after being struck by a vehicle in Naitonitoni, Navua. The unfortunate incident took place yesterday morning, according to police reports.
The Traffic Director, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, stated that the child was with a parent and a sibling when he allegedly left home unnoticed and walked onto the road, where he was hit by a vehicle driven by a 23-year-old man.
Following the accident, the driver quickly transported the child to Navua Hospital, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities will also consider potential negligence in the matter.
SSP Divuana has urged parents and guardians to exercise heightened vigilance in supervising young children, as accidents can happen unexpectedly in just a few seconds.
