The heart-wrenching story of 11-year-old Roger Qoro, who tragically lost his life on New Year’s Day, has left his family and community devastated. Roger was reportedly thrown from a moving vehicle when the carrier truck he was in hit a pothole while traveling in Natadola, resulting in critical injuries. Despite being rushed to Sigatoka Hospital, he later succumbed to his injuries.
Known for his talent and ambition, Roger had dreams of becoming an aircraft engineer and represented a promising future in athletics, having excelled as a sprinter and winning medals in various competitions. His father, Roger Qoro Sr., described his son as a hardworking child who was active in both sports and academics, consistently ranking among the top of his class.
The young boy was on a church picnic trip when the incident occurred. He had joined his friends in boarding the carrier that also transported equipment for the outing.
