A tragic incident in Naitonitoni, Navua, has claimed the life of a one-year-old child. The accident occurred yesterday when the child, who was not being closely monitored by a parent and sibling, reportedly left home unnoticed and wandered onto the road. There, the child was struck by a vehicle driven by a 23-year-old man.
Following the collision, the driver quickly took the child to Navua Hospital, but unfortunately, the child was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Authorities are conducting an investigation, which will include examining whether negligence played a role in the incident. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana has emphasized the importance of parents and guardians maintaining vigilant supervision of young children, as accidents can happen in an instant.
