A tragic accident in Naitonitoni, Navua has resulted in the death of a one-year-old child. The incident occurred yesterday when the child, accompanied by a parent and sibling, allegedly left their home unnoticed and wandered onto the road, where they were struck by a vehicle driven by a 23-year-old man.
The driver quickly took the child to Navua Hospital, but unfortunately, the child was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Investigations into the accident are ongoing, and authorities will examine the possibility of negligence. Senior Superintendent of Police Mitieli Divuana has urged parents and guardians to be more vigilant in supervising young children, as accidents can happen within seconds.
