A former resident of Fiji, Bimal Samy, age 52, tragically lost his life in a boating accident at Manukau Harbour in Auckland on Sunday morning. Samy was fishing with six others when their boat capsized.

The New Zealand Coastguard Operations Centre received reports of the incident at 9:39 am regarding the overturned vessel at the Manukau Bar. A close friend of Samy, Mohammed Ali Bobby, shared his grief on social media, describing it as a sad day for his “bestie.”

He wrote, “Top man Bimal Parma Samy. Sea Tragedy at Manukau bar crossing. Late bro Bimal passed away while others were rescued. My condolences to the family.”
