An 80-year-old man tragically lost his life in a car accident in Wainadoi, Navua, following a collision between two vehicles. The incident unfolded when both drivers attempted to overtake each other at the same time, leading their vehicles to veer off the road and end up in a ditch.
The elderly man, a resident of Suva, was quickly transported to Navua Hospital but unfortunately was pronounced dead upon arrival. The other driver involved in the accident is reported to be in stable condition.
This incident raises significant concerns about road safety and highlights the importance of cautious driving practices. Notably, the national road death toll currently stands at 48, a decline compared to 78 fatalities during the same period last year, indicating some progress in road safety measures.
