A 5-year-old boy drowned in Waidra, Baulevu, near the Rewa River yesterday. His body was recovered this morning. Senior Superintendent of Police Joape Cakacaka, the Divisional Police Commander for the Eastern Division, reported that the boy was swimming in the river when the incident occurred. He urged parents to supervise their children closely, especially with the cyclone season approaching and school holidays on the horizon. SSP Cakacaka also expressed gratitude to the Goneturaga na Vunivalu of Kasavu and local communities for their help in the search for the child’s body.
