Residents in the Nadi area are being warned about temporary traffic delays occurring tomorrow and on Saturday, due to the visit of U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. Senior Superintendent of Police Kasiano Vusonilawe provided a statement outlining that while there will be no road closures, drivers are encouraged to yield to the escorting vehicles as they approach.
On Friday, traffic control measures will be in place from 3 PM to 5 PM, as officers guide vehicles from Nadi International Airport to Votualevu and then to Blackrock camp to facilitate the delegation’s movement. After 5 PM, police will continue to manage traffic as the delegation travels from Votualevu to Denarau.
Similarly, on Saturday starting at 9 AM, motorists should expect further traffic management as officers monitor the route from Denarau back to the Nadi International Airport. SSP Vusonilawe emphasized that the police will strive to minimize delays and urged the public to cooperate with officers during this period.
This visit represents a significant diplomatic engagement, reinforcing international ties, and showcasing the importance of collaboration between nations. By accommodating these traffic measures, the local community plays a pivotal role in fostering a positive atmosphere for such high-profile visits.
In summary, Nadi residents should prepare for some traffic interruptions due to the U.S. Defense Secretary’s visit, with the police working to manage the situation efficiently. By supporting these efforts, the community can contribute to a successful and smooth visit, highlighting Nadi’s hospitality and cooperation.
