Traffic Crackdown: Over 182,000 Fines Issued in Just 7 Months!

The Land Transport Authority and the police have issued a total of 182,615 traffic infringement notices (TINs) between January and July 2024, according to Minister for Public Works, Transport and Meteorological Services, Filipe Tuisawau, during a report to Parliament.

Among these notices, 2,868 were related to E-Ticketing offenses, while 376 were for overloading. The remaining 179,371 TINs were issued for general violations, including speeding, red light camera offenses, police issued TINs, and other driver behavior issues.

Tuisawau emphasized the importance of these figures in reflecting the ongoing enforcement of traffic laws designed to address unsafe driving practices. He underlined the necessity of enhancing enforcement efforts and ensuring compliance with traffic regulations to lower the rates of accidents and fatalities, ultimately promoting safer roads for all.
