Traffic Alerts Ahead: Get Ready for Presidential Visit Disruptions!

Residents in the Central and Western Divisions are warned to anticipate traffic disruptions and delays as the police carry out traffic control and escort duties for the State visit of India’s President, Droupadi Murmu, taking place from today until Wednesday.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, assures the public that there will not be complete road closures during this period.

ACP Driu urges drivers to assist the police by clearing the way for the official motorcade when they hear the escorting police vehicles.

The schedule for the visit is as follows:

Tuesday, August 6, 2024:
– 9:00 AM – Traditional Welcome Ceremony at Government House
– 3:00 PM – Meeting with the Indian diaspora at Government House
– 4:00 PM – Wreath Laying Ceremony at the National War Memorial Site
– 4:20 PM – Departure to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School to honor the statue of Mahatma Gandhi
– 6:00 PM – Reception at the State House

Wednesday, August 7, 2024:
– 9:00 AM – Visit to Sri Siva Subramaniya Swami Temple in Nadi.
