Motorists in Nadi should be prepared for temporary traffic delays on November 22 and 23 due to the visit of U.S. Secretary of Defense, Mr. Lloyd Austin. The Fiji Police Force will be managing the escort duties for this diplomatic visit.
While no road closures are anticipated, drivers are reminded to yield to police escorts as they navigate through the area. On Friday, traffic management will specifically be in effect from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. as the delegation travels from Nadi Airport to Votualevu and then to Blackrock Camp. After 5:00 p.m., traffic control measures will be activated along the route from Votualevu to Denarau.
On Saturday, similar traffic management operations will commence at 9:00 a.m. to facilitate the delegation’s return journey from Denarau to Nadi International Airport.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kasiano Vusonilawe, who serves as the Director of Operations for the Fiji Police Force, has assured the public that they are taking steps to minimize any inconveniences during this time. He emphasized the importance of cooperation from motorists to ensure that the escort operations are conducted safely and efficiently.
This visit not only highlights the partnership between Fiji and the United States but also presents an opportunity for local residents and officials to engage in discussions surrounding mutual interests and security collaborations.
Overall, while traffic delays are an inconvenience, the successful management of these operations can showcase the efficiency of local authorities and the importance of international relations in the region.
