Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica has dismissed claims circulating on social media regarding political interference in the appointment of Barbara Malimali as the Commissioner of FICAC.
In a statement to FijiLive, Kamikamica described these allegations as absurd and disrespectful to the Judicial Services Commission, an independent organization led by the Acting Chief Justice.
He expressed regret that the individual making the claims is currently abroad, suggesting that if she were in Fiji, legal action would have already been pursued against her.
Kamikamica criticized the commentator, stating, “She is ridiculous. I am saddened that you would believe her as a trustworthy source. It is a pity that she is hiding offshore or she would have been sued.”
