Tower Insurance Launches Vunilagi Scholarship to Shape Fiji’s Future Leaders

Tower Insurance has announced the recipients of its first Vunilagi Scholarship, a key initiative aimed at nurturing future leaders in Fiji and its insurance industry. The three recipients are Aqela Buloudruadrua, Shayal Gosai, and Saula Baleinubu, selected through a thorough evaluation process.

During a special ceremony at Tower’s new Suva hub, Jajeena Bhan, co-head of the Tower Suva Hub, praised the exceptional quality of the applicants. “Our goal is to identify inspiring students who can help foster a more equitable, resilient, and sustainable future for all Fijians,” Ms. Bhan remarked. “Aqela, Shayal, and Saula embody the potential we are seeking.”

The Vunilagi Scholarship was introduced as part of Tower’s 150th anniversary celebrations in Fiji and is designed to cover a full year of tuition for three final-year students at the University of the South Pacific (USP). The scholarship also includes paid internships that may result in permanent employment with Tower Insurance.

This initiative aims not only to meet the educational needs of the students but also to align with the company’s strategic goal of fostering local talent to enhance its workforce. Ms. Gosai expressed that receiving the scholarship has motivated her to make a positive impact in her community. Mr. Baleinubu emphasized that the scholarship would provide him with essential skills and networking opportunities for his future career. Ms. Buloudruadrua conveyed her gratitude, noting that the support would enable her to fulfill her personal and professional aspirations.

Through the Vunilagi Scholarship, Tower Insurance aims to position itself as an active participant in the local market, investing in the next generation of leaders while reaffirming its commitment to corporate social responsibility in Fiji.
