Tourism Together: A Call for Unity at Fiji’s Convention 2024

Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Viliame Gavoka emphasized the importance of unity among tourism stakeholders during his remarks at the Fiji Tourism Convention 2024, themed “Tourism Together.” Speaking at the event, he expressed enthusiasm over the increased participation, noting the presence of many new faces that are not typically seen at such gatherings.

Mr. Gavoka expressed his satisfaction with the turnout, highlighting the significance of including various stakeholders such as banks, individuals from outside Viti Levu, and resource owners, all of whom play a crucial role in the tourism sector. He urged participants to make effective use of the convention space to address concerns and contribute meaningfully to discussions.

Additionally, Mr. Gavoka acknowledged the contributions of speakers and panelists over the course of the two-day event. He encouraged attendees to voice their concerns and insights, aiming for tangible outcomes to report at future conventions. The second day of the convention will feature a workshop focused on potential new legislation for tourism and the introduction of sustainable tourism standards.

Moreover, the convention coincides with the celebration of World Tourism Day, further emphasizing the shared commitment to advancing the tourism industry collaboratively.
