Pita Wise, the Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s office, has resigned, and Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has indicated that his departure is associated with a complaint. In an earlier statement, Luke Rokovada, chair of the Public Service Commission, noted that Wise resigned for personal reasons.

When approached by the media, Rabuka confirmed he received a complaint which he referred to the Public Service Commission, leading to Wise’s resignation. Rokovada elaborated that he received the complaint from Rabuka last Friday, and the commission convened on Wednesday to address the issue with Wise, who subsequently offered to resign.

“I had sent him (Mr. Rabuka) an email yesterday (Wednesday) notifying him,” Rokovada stated. “Today (yesterday) I’ve sent him the letter, a hard copy that confirmed his resignation, along with a press release on it.”

Mr. Wise has served as Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister since January 2023 and has over 30 years of experience in the civil service, having held the same position in previous administrations.
