Winston Hill, a leading local boxer, is set to face Australia’s Lachlan O’Shea in the main event of the South Pacific Boxing Promotion (SPBP) for the IBO Asia Pacific Super Welterweight title. During the official weigh-in at Nair Dias in Nadi, Hill expressed his readiness to give his all for the fight.
“This match is significant, not only because it’s a major draw, but it’s special to me as my brother will also be fighting in the same event,” Hill stated. O’Shea remarked on Hill’s calm demeanor and acknowledged the support he enjoys from the local crowd. “I believe both of us are definitely prepared for this fight,” O’Shea commented.
Ubayd Haider, who will compete against China’s Runqi Zhao for the IBO Asia Pacific Superweight title, shared that his nerves have settled and he is eager to step into the ring. Haider’s older brother, Sebastian ‘Sniper’ Singh, is also in action, facing ‘King’ Tonga Tongotongo from Tonga for the IBO Asia Pacific Cruiserweight title. Singh noted the extensive preparation he has undergone for the match. “I am excited about the fight; no matter the outcome, it will be tough, and I’ll give it my all,” he said.
Sonny Bill Williams, a prominent sports figure, will serve as the chief guest at the event. He commended the boxers for their preparation ahead of the significant clash. “SPBP is organizing a great event with a fantastic lineup of strong fighters. It’s going to be thrilling, and I have great respect for all the competitors,” he remarked.
The weigh-in results are as follows: Winston Hill weighed in at 68.45 kg, Lachlan O’Shea at 69.8 kg, Tonga Tongotongo at 87.55 kg, Sebastian Singh at 89.75 kg, Ubayd Haider at 56.9 kg, Runqi Zhou at 57.2 kg, Roy Ser at 68.9 kg, Jese Ravudi at 72.2 kg, Amit Kumar at 76.3 kg, Mikaele Kavika at 75.2 kg, Junior Abhay Chand at 73.5 kg, and Vitori Cabalevu at 75.5 kg.
