In an action-packed Group A match at the 2024 FMF Inter District Championship (IDC), Suva and Navua played to a 2-2 draw on the second day of the tournament, keeping both teams in contention for a semifinal position.
Both teams entered the match after losing their opening fixtures to Labasa and Lautoka, each suffering a 3-1 defeat, making a positive result crucial. Suva took an early lead, displaying sharpness, with goals from Samuela Drudru in the 8th minute and Solomon Islander Gagame Feni in the 29th minute.
Just before halftime, Navua managed to score from a Kolinio Sivoki free-kick, catching Suva’s goalkeeper Akuila Mateisuva off guard, bringing the score to 2-1 in favor of Suva at the break.
In the second half, a defensive error by Remueru Tekiate allowed Thomas Dunn to capitalize and equalize for Navua with a well-placed finish. The match ended with both teams earning a point, needing victories in their final matches to enhance their chances of advancing to the semifinals.
Flick Hygiene Suva will face Flick Hygiene Lautoka at 8 PM, while Stratum Construction/Zeg Investment Navua takes on Extra Supermarket Labasa at 4 PM in their upcoming matches.
