Three individuals were apprehended on Tuesday in connection with drug possession, according to police reports. Officers from the K-9 Unit in the Western Division conducted a traffic stop along Waiyavi in Lautoka, where they searched a 26-year-old mechanic from Sabeto Central and a 32-year-old man from Duna Place in Nadi Town. Following a brief investigation, two clear plastic bags containing a white substance suspected to be methamphetamine were reportedly discovered.
In a separate incident in Suva, a Public Service Vehicle driver from Cunningham was also taken into custody after police allegedly found seedlings believed to be marijuana in his possession. Further investigations by the Fiji Dog Detector Unit and the Police K-9 Unit led to a drug raid at the suspect’s home, where additional marijuana seedlings were reportedly recovered.
Currently, all three suspects are in police custody as investigations into these incidents are ongoing.
This operation underscores the diligence of law enforcement in combating drug-related issues within the community. Continuous efforts to tackle drug offenses can contribute to a safer environment for the public. As authorities work to address these challenges, there is hope for increased public awareness and education about the dangers of drug use and trafficking, which can ultimately lead to healthier communities.
