Three individuals are in police custody following a significant drug bust involving illicit substances. The operation took place on Sunday afternoon when the police, in collaboration with the Fiji Dog Detector Unit (FDDU), executed a raid on a residence located in Tamole Settlement, New Town.
During the raid, a 56-year-old unemployed man and a 23-year-old man employed at a car wash willingly surrendered a total of 117 sachets containing dried leaves wrapped in aluminum foil, which are believed to be marijuana.
In a related incident, another individual, a 53-year-old casual worker from Newtown Settlement, was apprehended after police conducted a search of his residence, armed with a warrant. He, too, cooperated with authorities by voluntarily handing over a portion of dried leaves believed to be marijuana.
This action by law enforcement highlights the ongoing efforts to combat drug-related issues within the community. Such proactive measures are crucial in addressing the problem of illicit drug use and distribution, ensuring a safer environment for residents. The cooperation shown by the individuals during the raids may also suggest a potential for rehabilitation and a chance for these men to seek support and turn their lives around.
This incident serves as a reminder that community vigilance and law enforcement collaboration are key elements in the fight against drug abuse.
