A man has been arrested after attempting to breach a high-security storage facility in Fiji, where over $2 billion worth of confiscated methamphetamine is kept. The individual was apprehended in the early hours of yesterday morning after climbing a telecommunications tower and scaling a fence to access the premises of the Fiji Police Mobile Force. Officers found him allegedly trying to tamper with surveillance cameras monitoring the drug containers.
Acting Commissioner of Police Sakeo Raikaci confirmed the man’s custody and indicated that investigations are ongoing to determine his motives and intentions. He emphasized that the security around the seized drugs, including a significant cache of four tonnes obtained in Nadi, is particularly rigorous and monitored closely from their Command Centre, with support from the Australian Federal Police.
Additionally, Assistant Commissioner of Police Sakeo Ganivatu indicated that this incident suggests the existence of an organized drug network attempting to reclaim the secured substances.
