The iTaukei Land Trust Board (TLTB) has granted 14 conservation leases encompassing iTaukei territory. During the Forest Landscape Restoration in Fiji’s Situation Analysis Workshop in Nadi, TLTB environmental officer Josua Waqanivalu revealed that these leases classified as nature reserve leases, forest reserve leases, conservation leases, and Redd++ leases.

Waqanivalu indicated that, “Out of these, eight leases have been given by the Government. They are related primarily to forestry leases, nature reserves, and conservation leases.” Among the conservation leases on iTaukei land, one was given to landowners with the remaining five awarded to non-governmental organizations.
