Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai, the Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, expressed that there is no harm in examining the provisions of the constitution if there is a desire to amend it. He made these remarks in response to inquiries about the government’s efforts to review the 2013 Constitution.
Kalouniwai noted that if initial attempts to test the provisions fail, it may warrant exploring alternative actions. He emphasized that the RFMF has consistently supported the rule of law and adherence to established processes.
Furthermore, he stated that there are constitutional provisions available for the government should they wish to implement changes. Kalouniwai reinforced that this initiative falls within legal boundaries, and the government’s decision to review the 2013 Constitution is seen as a politically sound choice.
