Next year, hundreds of students in the Northern Division will continue their education in temporary tents due to ongoing challenges in establishing permanent classrooms. Assistant Education Minister Iliesa Vanawalu has announced that efforts are actively being made to transition these students back into stable learning environments.
Mr. Vanawalu emphasized that teams have been conducting assessments at the affected schools to determine the appropriate steps forward. He acknowledged the concerns raised by parents in Naidavaci, Cakaudrove, who expressed frustration regarding the perceived lack of action from the Government in addressing the students’ needs. “I completely understand their concerns and assure them that we are committed to finding solutions,” Mr. Vanawalu stated.
He reassured parents that the Government is prioritizing the schools that have been left in limbo due to the impacts of cyclones and landslides over the past three years. “We are dedicated to ensuring a more permanent and comfortable learning environment for all students,” he affirmed.
The focus remains on setting up proper classrooms as quickly as possible while the necessary arrangements are being finalized. The Government continues to show determination and effort in addressing this pressing issue, providing hope for a brighter future for all impacted students.
It is indeed encouraging to see active government engagement in these matters, as it highlights a commitment to children’s education and welfare in the midst of challenging circumstances.
