The husband of a former member of the Grace Road Church (GRC) has defended the organization against allegations of mistreatment made by his wife. Speaking to The Fiji Times, he described the issue as a personal matter between him and his wife, emphasizing that GRC has been unfairly implicated.

His wife, who opted to remain anonymous, recently left the True Mart shopping center in Navua after being part of the church for nearly eight years. She cited her desire to provide a better life and opportunities for her two children, aged 13 and four, as her primary motivation for leaving.

In response to her claims, the husband stated that any alleged separation of families is largely a normal part of life, particularly in the context of hard work for the organization’s expansion. He insisted that while they may have periods of separation, this is not detrimental, as families are ultimately united in their efforts and support for one another. He claimed that the children are thriving, highly educated, and actively participate in various recreational activities, which he believes counters the negative portrayal presented by his wife.

He expressed hope that his wife would reconsider her position and return to the organization. Meanwhile, GRC has refrained from commenting on the allegations, directing all inquiries back to the husband.

This situation highlights the complex dynamics within organizations and families. It serves as a reminder of the importance of open communication in resolving personal disputes while also considering the welfare of children involved. Positive narratives around family engagement and support, as invoked by the husband, showcase an aspiration for unity despite differing perspectives.

In summary, the husband of a Grace Road Church member has refuted allegations of mistreatment made by his wife, asserting that separation from family members can be a normal aspect of their lives as they work hard for the organization. He remains hopeful for reconciliation.
