Telecom Fiji’s Game-Changing Partnership for Enhanced Connectivity!

Telecom Fiji has announced a significant partnership with Kordia, a New Zealand-based provider of critical communication technology solutions, which promises to enhance internet connectivity for users in Fiji.

As part of this collaboration, Kordia will create a crucial North transmission network in Vanua Levu, linking the Savusavu Submarine Cable Station to the Labasa Exchange with advanced transmission equipment from Ciena. This development represents a major advancement in improving Fiji’s telecommunications infrastructure.

Telecom Fiji’s CEO, Charles Goundar, emphasized that this partnership with Kordia is essential for expanding the network’s capacity and reliability, particularly in Vanua Levu. He noted that the new transmission network will meet the rising demand for high-speed connectivity and digital services across the region, allowing Telecom Fiji to provide enhanced solutions for its customers. Goundar reiterated the company’s commitment to driving digital transformation in Fiji.

Kordia brings extensive experience in designing, building, operating, and maintaining critical communication networks in New Zealand, Australia, and the Pacific. The company has collaborated closely with Ciena to develop a solution tailored for Telecom Fiji’s needs. Brent La Franchie, Executive General Manager of Kordia’s Solutions business, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, looking forward to delivering infrastructure that ensures advanced connectivity for the people of Fiji.

Kordia’s previous achievements in the region include the installation of Ciena equipment at subsea fibre landing stations in Vanuatu and work on Fiji’s marine cable network. The company has also provided consultancy and fibre testing services for Telecom Fiji’s optical fibre network, enhancing its role as a reliable partner. Telecom Fiji stated that the collaboration with Kordia and Ciena will facilitate a smooth and high-quality rollout of the North transmission network, paving the way for improved connectivity, reliability, and capacity in Fiji’s digital environment.
