Teen Golfer Finds Joy and Challenges at Fiji Golf Open

Isireli Digitaki, a year nine student from Nabua Secondary School, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the Fiji Golf Open, held last Saturday at the Fiji Golf Club in Vatuwaqa. Competing in the junior category, Digitaki shared that it was his first experience in this prestigious tournament and he felt pleased with his performance despite facing challenges.

He mentioned that the pressure of the competition affected his game, leading to some unfavorable swings. Digitaki enjoyed the experience of playing alongside his uncles and older siblings, who also participated and took home prizes, including electrical appliances. He noted the significance of these wins, stating that such items are often beyond their financial reach.

He acknowledged the physical demands of the tournament, particularly the difficulty of carrying his golf bag, which contributed to his fatigue. Looking ahead, Digitaki aims to improve his ability to manage pressure for future events and expressed deep appreciation to God for the strength he found throughout the three-day tournament.

Digitaki also expressed his gratitude to Complete Insurance Services for covering his golf membership fees, emphasizing that their support was crucial for his participation. He thanked individuals such as Arvin Lal and Taitusi Tuivuci for their assistance in helping juniors, including himself, take part in the tournament. Furthermore, he recognized the Fiji Professional Golfers Association (PGA) for sponsoring free entry for ten junior players, highlighting that many juniors could not afford the entry fees.

He concluded by thanking his family and teachers for their unwavering support and guidance, which helped him navigate the challenges of the tournament.
