Team Fiji concluded the 2024 Paris Olympics with one silver medal, placing 74th in the overall medal standings. The medal came from the Fiji men’s sevens team, which faced a 28-7 defeat against the host nation, France.

The majority of the athletes, many of whom are under 20 years old, participated in their first Olympic Games and expressed pride in representing their country. They are now focused on training and improving to qualify for the Los Angeles Games in 2028.

Additionally, Team Fiji’s athletes and officials were privileged to enjoy a dinner hosted by members of the Fijian community in Paris. Linda Acker, Eric Acker, Atonina Lasagavibau, Fero Lasagavibau, and Joe Rokocoko organized the meal and presented a traditional sevusevu to the team.

Sale Sorovaki, Team Fiji’s Chef de Mission, expressed gratitude towards the hosts for their efforts in making the team feel welcomed and comfortable. He noted the athletes were eager to experience Fijian cuisine and bond with fellow Fijians in Paris.

Acker shared her emotional experience of hosting the young Fijian Olympians, calling it a true honor.
